Sports Games Programming

Since I'm a huge football fan and I loved the now-defunct Sierra Front Page Football series, I'd like to know how many of you have ever tried making your own sports games and what was it? Just curious since this genre isnt usually brought up. I would imagine the AI involved would have to be very complex to provide any sort of realism.

I was a big fan as well ... so I have been writing a similar style game but not quite football. We have one guy in our team who is AI neural expert so its bring a lot of depth to it. Hoping to beg at Jeff Hilbert and Mark Cochranes feet at the Australian Game Developers Conference in November. I will be there on behalf of PC Powerplay a game mag here in Australia. Dont be afraid to start writing your own the AI is the hardest though
